A necromancer is a practitioner of magic who specializes in communicating with and controlling the spirits of the dead. They are often depicted as using their powers to raise the dead or to gain knowledge from the deceased. In many fantasy and folklore traditions, necromancers are seen as dark and sinister figures, using their abilities for malevolent purposes. The term "necromancer" comes from the Greek words "nekros" (dead) and "manteia" (divination), reflecting their association with communicating with the deceased. **

In J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit," the Necromancer is a mysterious and powerful dark sorcerer who resides in Dol Guldur, a fortress in Mirkwood. It is later revealed that the Necromancer is actually Sauron, the primary antagonist in Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium. Sauron uses the guise of the Necromancer to gather his strength and plot his return to power. The presence of the Necromancer plays a significant role in the events of "The Hobbit," as it sets the stage for the larger conflict that unfolds in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. **

Whether it is worth getting the Necromancer for Diablo 3 depends on your personal preferences and playstyle. The Necromancer offers a unique and powerful gameplay experience with its summoning and corpse manipulation abilities. If you enjoy playing as a summoner or using dark magic, then the Necromancer can be a worthwhile addition to your Diablo 3 experience. However, if you prefer other classes or playstyles, you may not find as much value in purchasing the Necromancer DLC. Ultimately, it is up to you to decide if the Necromancer's abilities and playstyle align with your preferences and if it is worth the investment for you. **

Some popular MMOs that offer classes like Summoner, Necromancer, and Pet classes include World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, and Guild Wars 2. In World of Warcraft, players can choose the Warlock class which specializes in summoning demons and pets to aid them in battle. Final Fantasy XIV offers the Summoner class which can summon powerful creatures to fight alongside them. Guild Wars 2 features the Necromancer class which focuses on dark magic and summoning minions to assist in combat. **

Yes, in Guild Wars 2, necromancers can have a companion in the form of a summoned minion. Necromancers have the ability to summon various types of minions, such as bone fiends, flesh golems, and shadow fiends, to aid them in combat. These minions can provide additional damage, crowd control, or support to the necromancer, making them a valuable companion in battle. Additionally, necromancers can also use their Death Shroud ability to transform into a spectral form, gaining new skills and abilities to further enhance their combat effectiveness. **
